Biography

Prof. Dr. Amany Abdel Maqsod Sholkamy is a distinguished Professor of Internal Medicine and Hepatology at Cairo University, Egypt. She completed her Master of Science in Medicine in 1993 and earned her MD in Medicine and Hepatology in 1997, both from Cairo University.

Since 2008, Prof. Sholkamy has been serving as a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. She is the founder and clinical supervisor of the Liver Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the French Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital, Cairo University, established in 2005. Additionally, she has been a senior liver transplant consultant at Manial Specialized Hospital, Cairo University, since 2004, and a senior sonologist in the Internal Medicine Hospital at Cairo University.

Prof. Sholkamy is a member of the scientific committee of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, a position she has held since 2013. She has supervised numerous master's and MD research projects and has an extensive list of national and international publications in the fields of hepatology, hepatic emergencies, and liver transplantation. In 2018, she completed a Master's degree in Organ Procurement and Transplantation Management from the Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI) at the University of Barcelona, Spain.

Her research work includes studies on alpha-fetoprotein as a modifier of anatomic criteria for transplantation in hepatocellular carcinoma patients.

Prof. Sholkamy is also active on social media, where she shares insights related to hepatology, liver ICU, and transplantation.

Her contributions to the medical field, particularly in hepatology and liver transplantation, have been instrumental in advancing healthcare practices in Egypt and beyond.
